Design System for a Circle K

Building a scalable design system for Circle K

Process involved:

System Design, Design Systems Audit & Research

As one of the world’s largest convenience brands, Circle K needed a way to unify its global digital ecosystem. We created its first comprehensive design system, aligning legacy and new experiences into a cohesive framework that improved consistency and efficiency across design and development.

Given the fast-moving timeline, our approach was both strategic and hands-on. Rather than treating the audit as a separate phase, we deconstructed existing app screens, component libraries, and design flows while auditing in parallel. This allowed us to quickly identify reusable patterns and streamline inconsistencies between the U.S. and EU experiences.

As we rebuilt, we standardized core visual elements—color palette, typography, spacing, and components—creating a cohesive visual language that improved usability and accelerated design-to-development efficiency. The result was a flexible, well-documented system ready to scale across teams and platforms.

Outcomes:
- 40+ standardized components documented and adopted for global use.
- 2× faster design-to-development handoff through production-ready, tokenized assets.
- 40% reduction in front-end design and build time for new features.
